Join us in Airlie Beach Australia as we set off to explore The Great Barrier Reef – perhaps the worlds most natural gift. It is home to an unparalleled abundance of marine life and hundreds of picturesque tropical islands. On leaving Airlie Beach we take in the Whitsundays, a true jewel of 74 islands which are a treasure trove of bottle green forests. Nestled among them is Hamilton Island with its coast fringed by coral reefs and tours on offer for up-close sightings of koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and kookaburras.
Join us on the beautiful island of Lombok. This is home to sugar white beaches, spectacular falls and home of Indonesias second-tallest volcano. We leave all that behind as we set sail with the World Arc yachts to make the 625NM (4-6 day) passage to Christmas Island. Nicknamed the ‘Galapagos of the Indian Ocean’ the island is famous for its red crabs, sea birds, whale sharks and spectacular coral reefs. From there we sail onward on another 3-4 day passage that brings us to the Cocos (keeling) Islands.
Join us in Port Louis, only a 33 minute taxi ride from the international airport as we prepare to set sail. Our first stop is the island of Reunion. We spend about six days exploring this small piece of Europe set in the Indian Ocean. The melting pot of cultures and nationalities have been absorbed into the cuisine making the food interesting and exotic. Reunion is also home to one of the worlds most active volcanos with 150 recorded eruptions since the 17th century – the most recent in April 2021. You are welcome to climb it!
Join us in Cape Town as we prepare to make the 785 NM (4-6 day) passage north to Namibia. A brief 3 – 4 days to recharge and explore then west to St Helena. This tiny island lying 1215 NM west in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is our next destination. While you may know this as the island of Napoleon’s exile perhaps you may not know that this is home to Jonathan – the oldest living animal on earth.
With El Salvador International Airport on hand then join us at the marina as we prepare to cruise our way up the coast of Brazil. Its carnival week at the end of February so we are sure to be wowed by the eye catching celebrations of multicoloured parades and pageants with plenty of dancing and singing by all as we hop our way north. We finish our Brazil adventure in Cabadelo where we meet up with our other World Arc adventurers and set sail on the 1330NM (6-9 day) passage to Devils Island.
Join us on the beautiful island of Grenada as we set sail north to St Lucia. We will discover the breathtaking beauty of the Caribbean as we island hop our way north past St Vincent and the Grenadines. This multi-island nation offers a combination of rainforest eco adventures and classic powder-white sand beaches. With only 140 NM to cover in over two weeks there is plenty of time to snorkel over coral reefs, hike up volcanic pitons and visit celebrity hot spots. We will drop anchor in quiet coves and visit bustling harbour villages.
Asante is a 2007 Oyster 56 A luxury 57ft sailing yacht designed by Rob Humphries. The 56 is perhaps the quintessential Oyster design and was the undisputed class leader at this size for more than a decade.
The key to her success is her size; large enough for rapid ocean cruising and to accommodate her crew and guests in comfort and style when living aboard, but easy to handle.
A spacious deck layout, large secure cockpit area and wide side decks make for comfortable and safe cruising and there are plenty of places to relax on deck.
The interior arrangement provides 3 separate cabins for guests. There is one double cabin, and two twin cabins, one forward and one aft. There is a day head midships for use by all guests and the large bright saloon offers plenty of room for relaxing in comfort. All creature comforts can be found on board. The guests separate shower stall and quiet flush electric toilet makes it feel a little more like home.
The Oyster 56 is a proven performer, with many ocean crossings and circumnavigations to her credit. She has had class wins in the ARC and has also won Cruising Class 1 at Antigua Sailing Week, beating several more serious racing yachts. She is a superb sea boat and remains very well regarded by all her fortunate owners.
